lantern coffee house

We are currently redeveloping our coffee house into a Social Initiative.

Under the guidance of a project leader our hope is develop apprenticeship programmes (alongside Raynes Park High School and Merton College) in catering and customer service, to enable young people gain experience.

The Lantern Café (as it was known then) was one of the first cafes to open in Raynes Park in the 1980’s. After over twenty years of serving the local community, a decision was made to close the shop. In 2015, the Lantern Methodist Church with the support of the Lantern Arts’ Centre & Share Jesus International, revamped the space and reopened the doors of the shop to the community.

The Coffee House has the vision of being a hub for the community -  a space for people from all walks of life to visit, socialise, work & enjoy the drinks & food on offer. With work stations, free wi-fi, toys, mini library, garden and additional seating – we aim to accommodate all and will always do our best meet our customer’s needs.
